Can't decide on ultrex or stay with fortrex

Ordered my 919 2 weeks ago. I have time to decide but 4 weeks into going back and forth, I can't decide. Fortrex comes with it. Ultrex has he spot lock and other functions that can be used with the lowrance carbons. Yes I am staying lowrance. The hummingbirds are great but I like the lowrance. Have them in my boat right now. Spot lock is the only thing I can see myself using. But I have done with out it for many many many years. i can see the plus of having spotlock but is it really worth the 1k upgrade. Like I said before, lives with out this long?

From what I've heard from friends is they will never go back. Great for wind and off shore fishing. Remote is also a good feature.

As long as my ultrex keeps working ill never go back to a fortrex. If you fish deeper water with any wind or big wakes at all its worth a 5k upgrade.

I've locked on brush piles, docks, roadbeds, points etc etc. I can't imagine ever going back to a trolling motor without spotlock.
It was my best upgrade!! Love the remote too! Certainly worth the additional cost in my opinion. Good luck with your decision.

I switched out Fortrex for Ultrex several months ago...........yes, do it........ it's a slam dunk correct decision if you fish any type of breaks or structure. Now if you do nothing but beat the bank I'd say it's not necessary. I fish a lot of 10 to 15 feet ledges and offshore points......it's been fantastic to have!

Ultrex, not even a question. Once you use one you won't go back

If you really have the choice, and can afford it, go Ultrex. No one will say different.

I figured as much. Have yet to hear or see anyone say no. I pound the bank a lot but I do fish main lake points and I am trying to get better at deep water fishing. Money is not an issue, juts why spend it if you don't have to and I been with out it since I started fishing. But the again we pretty much all have. Thanks for the input gentlemen.

5k is not what I am tracking. Only costing me about 1k to upgrade from fortrex to ultrex. Basically the price difference.

Think he's saying it's worth twice the cost.

Switched from Fortrex to Ultrex on my new boat. I wouldn't own another boat without one. I fish offshore quite a bit and love it. I fish shallow quite a bit too and love it for that. Catch a fish off a dock hit spot lock and don't move. Need to re tie/ re rig a bait hit spot lock and don't move. Want to eat a sandwich and take a 5 minute break hit spot lock and don't move. It's an amazing accessory.

Bought a 112 ultrex for my ranger and the best decision I ever made to upgrade my boat. I wouldn't want to have to fish without it

I wanted to upgrade the TM on my Cougar. I decided to go with a Fortrex. There are enough issues with the Ultrex that I just could not get one. I will let MK get the kinks worked out and get one in a year or two.

The ultrex wasn't available when I purchased my boat, so i got powerpoles. If I were to purchase a new boat today, it would have an ultrex and no poles (3k savings). Out here powerpoles aren't very useful in 30 ft of water. Just something to think about.
