    Sterling State Park/Raisin River

Anyone do any fishing down there? I have some friends staying at the RV park this weekend. Trying to decide if I should bring the boat for a little fishing.

Any good fishing for Largemouth near shore or in the canals around the park? Any areas fairly close to shore for smallmouth?

Just looking for some general directions fellas, any help would be greatly appreciated.

I know guys who have run from Sandusky, Ohio to fish those areas in a tournament, so there must be fish there.

Hey Dan! Absolutely take your boat. The ramp in Sterling state park is basically a Erie backwater. That's one of the few areas that resemble the Grand River, Kent and Muskegon Lake. Plenty rip rap, plenty pads. Plenty LM. The Smallmouth can be tricky that's for sure.

    Good luck
