Well how about that! I figured it was trash, but for the pricing on the website marksprops.com I guess I can't pass it up. I sent it off today!

Yep, I had all three blades welded up 4 years ago and that prop is still on my fx20 Don't bother with bigger pitch props. The 25 is good for fishing and 23 or 24 would be good for pulling tubes.
The pitch reflects the number of inches the prop should move forward with each rotation in a perfect world. If you have a powerful enough motor to spin the prop the 27 is much faster than a 21. The key is RPMs but you need the power to get the rpms with a higher pitch prop. If a 27 is spinning at 5000 rpms you will go much faster than using a 21P at 5000 RPMs. Understand now?

It's going to have to be pretty dang strong to turn a 27 up to max rpm. I can't see it being able to do that on a normal bass boat. It would have to be a go fast hull
Got a call back today from Mark's, but missed it. If all is well I should be able to tell you if having a short blade affects performance (haha) by Wednesday/Thurs!
I passed on the 27 until I see how this turns out.

Mark finally got ahold of me. The fin was so short because it had been ground down about a million times. It wasn't repairable so I'm going to replace it with one of those new Fury models.

Since your prop was so worn/damaged, you do not have a good baseline for purchasing a new prop.
See if you can borrow a known good prop or find a marina with demo props.
You will need to determine:
-prop to pad measurement
-WOT rpm's and GPS speed
-how is bow and stern lift
-how is your holeshot
-general handling characteristics
With information like this, you can get good recommendations on type of prop and pitch.

Now I know your crazy. There's no such thing as too fast. Lol
You will get used to it. My first boat that went in the low 60s I thought was fast. Then after a few months it wasn't very fast. Now I have one that goes mid 70s and once I get to around 72 or 3 it feels real fast. More seat time will cure that
Maybe so, but once he hits about 65 with this 21p prop it kinda feels like he's going to blow up and over! When the 25 gets here I'm sure it'll be even faster. I kinda like to putter around at 35 or so most times. Then when me and the kiddo are in a tourney we light it up to 50's (now 60s I guess!) and it's just hair-on-fire speed. Maybe i should drop my P2P a little for more control and less flying booty feeling.

Dropping your ptp will make it walk more, raising it will control it somewhat. It will also make it a hair faster. Just take it easy and learn the boat and i promise you will get a little faster and faster. Don't go out there and hammer down and hope you can handle it. That leads to wrecks and overall dislike for the boat.
