Lightbulb Straight up Best Cranking batt for $

Let's hear it, what's the best choice for the weekend (limited budget) angler? Running two graphs and livewell all day. 100$-250$ range? Prefer a battery that won't burn up a stator!

Depending on the size of the graphs, you'll want a Group 27 or 31 AGM. I use a Group 31 AGM and it will easily power 3 sonars (HDS-8, HDS-7, ONIX 10 CT), LSS-2 box, HB hub, livewell pumps, two 12' Talons and a Bow 360 and still crank a 250 SHO at the end of the day.

Hey Mike. Little over a year later, how's it performing and holding up? Been thinking about one of these as well.

I run the same battery for my Optimax. Mine is the 7235. Difference is that it has posts. It's a monster.

I have been running the Canadian version of this commercial Deka battery that Mike suggests, with nearly identical specs. On year three, no problems, 200 Opti and accessories. My next boat will have the same cranking battery for sure.

I don't know if I have a stator on my Suzuki, but I do have a Sams Club Duracell 31AGM @$170 for three years.

I'm in Ottawa. What is the Canadian version of the battery that Mike recommended?

This is 100% true. I learned this from three different Elite series guys. Every tournament has a wallmart near by keep receipt and you are golden. They are the only place that won't break your balls on some pro rate warranty brand new battery if it fails no questions asked.
