    I had the same issue four years ago, it was one of my injectors running lean. I caught it before it blew up the engine. Another thought is the primer ball, I had that issue about seven years ago. It had a hairline crack, hard to see. Was fine until you opened it up, it then would start to suck air. Made the boat not achieve full rpms. I would try that first.

    Tonyc, your plug on that one was clean/white correct? not tan or burnt.

    Pulled all the injectors and sent them out to be cleaned and flow tested. Got them back and put new plugs in. Old plugs all looked ok.

    sounds like the exhaust tuner is melted, mine did the exact same thing 3 times, that's why I don't own it anymore. The only wat I know of checking is to pull off the lower unit and look up to the power head AND SEE IF ITS A MELTED OILE OF CRAP UP THERE , YOU WILL KNOW BY LOOKING

    I had similar problems on my 05 HPDI 250, I had all the mystery filers changed and rebuilt the low and high pressure pumps, problem gone...

    how much was the rebuild for the HP pump? do you recall?
