Guys use pellets in the smoke tubes in the eggs for cold smoking. So why not...I just use big chunks of wood or wood chips.

I have a REC TEC. I use their recommended pellets which are great. I do however on occasion supplement their pellets with a smoke tube while smoking. That way I can add a different flavor. I maintain small bags of apple, cherry, hickory and pecan for the smoke tube.
