All depends on what type crankbait rod you like. If you like the glass noodle type cranker this isn't the rod for you. I like graphite heavier type crankers and this rod is perfect for big 10xd's and other big cranks . Hope this helps
This rod is the deal for consistently throwing those big cranks. It is just a beefer 805 if you have fished this rod. The 806 is well balanced and does not feel like a 8 foot rod. It is stiff in the right places but loads well for casting and to play fish once you get one on.
Please note I love the composite Dobyns crankbait rods from the 705, 765, 805 and 806. The only one I did not like was the 704 which I found too light and it didn't fit my fishing style since I don't fish very many small crankbaits.
The 806 cb is perfect for 10xds and similarly sized crankbaits. That is what it was designed for and they hit the mark. It works well down to the 8xd size for me.

Thanks for the replies, I have two 805CBRM's and like those very well, sounds like the 806 would fit my needs.
Is this rod a good choice for a little smaller crankbaits such as DD22s and 6XDs?
That's a lot of stick for those baits. It is not made for those sized cranks (6XD/DD22). I doubt that rod could effectivly load those lighter baits. I'm sure you could get by using it for lighter cranks and the mag baits if you were on a budget and wanted one stick. I use and love the 805CBRM for those size baits, and looking at the 806 for the 10XD's and such.

I use the 765CB glass for the DD22/6xd size. It is my favorite rod.
