    Where should I go?

Traveling for work this week and I'm bringing the boat (-: I'm going to be in the Eau Claire and St Croix Falls area. Was thinking about Wissota, Balsam or maybe the river... recommendations?

Been a few years since I fished Wissota, but did catch some nice fish while there. Not familiar with much else in that neighborhood.

There is a dam at St Croix Falls. North of it the water is plenty deep and I found some nice smallmouth there last year.

Balsam has been good lately in 12-16 ft, using cranks.

Depending on what you're dragging up, wissota can be rough. Even a mild 8-10mph on it can bring white caps, and the lake is lousy with recreational traffic.

I'd head north of there. There are several lakes maybe 30-40 mins north of wissota that are good bass lakes.

If you want musky, try dairy land flow age. Careful with the river, there's a lot of granite just under the surface if you don't follow the original channel.
