UPDATED: Dual console, extend rod locker?

    99TR18 Dual Console

I fish 8' rods and above. Typically all tied with big baits for striped bass. I absolutely hate storing my rods on deck. But an 8' rod won't fit in my rod locker.

Ive been looking at the rod lockers and think it might get be possible to cut a large hole under the passenger side console. I could slide my rods in from the console area and rest the butts on this new opening (I would line it with u-trim to prevent rod and reel damage)

NO FOAM, ROD TUBES, OBSTRUCTIONS IN THE WAY. DIMENSIONALLY THE RODS WILL NOT FIT DUE TO THE LIP OF THE LOCKER. See the picture I attached. That is with the rod pushed to the top of the bow

    anyone done this before?
passenger leg room is a non-issue
    any input?
    tricks tips ideas?

Not sure you'd be able to make the bend between the seat and under the console to get the rods in. What about turning your center locker into a rod locker ? Maybe you could add an extended deck with a lid and get them in that way ??

Center locker is far too short (2-3 feet short). Spending a lot of money isn't really an option at this point. Strict budget

Not familiar with your boat, however, on my skeeter the rod tubes in the locker were capped. I completely removed the rod tube bundle. I fly fish from my boat and can now stow 9'ft rods. So, much easier and more secure now.

I removed both rod tubes and the platform they rested on. Problem being, the butt won't get past the lip of the locker. I need a way to slide it in. I'll try and take some pics tommorrow when I get off work

Get some collapsible blank rods. I have some heavy falcons that collapse

Didn't some of the Ranger multispecies boat have ways to slide rods into the console from the deck? Those musky guys use long rods. Maybe it is just a matter or ordering the insert and installing it?

With all the inserts removed, it won't fit physically. Tip of boat to end of locker is about 7'9. Can't get the butt past the locker to slide it in

I get 15 rods over 8' to 9' in my boat with my 15 bass rods. That being said I have no organizer in the locker, and the most important part is rod socks. Without them 3 rods is max... I am sure you can cut SOME of the area your talking but don't cut more than 70% of it.
