Any update on this? I have been waiting on this so I can get rid of a coupe of E series and an possibly an Axiom and hopefully make someone a great setup.

No. a Series will not be LH3 compatible. Only eS and gS.

Jig34 can you explain why the a series wasn’t included in the lighthouse 3 update. All the other updates for lighthouse 2 always included a,g,and e series. I,d like to hear an explanation of why Raymarine would come out with new technology that can,t communicate with the last generation of products. In my case I bought 2 axiom hoping to add it to my existing network only to find out LH2 and LH3 aren’t compatible. So now I will have to run 2 different operating systems that can’t communicate with each other and run two different sets of transducers or upgrade my whole network to axioms.

Because a and eS units have different processors. The original plan was to make LH3 available on a Series, but once tested, that processor can't really handle it. The eS and gS processors are fine, but "a" doesn't have quite enough "umph" to work.

I have heard the LH3 is so powerful and fast that you need a faster processor to run it. ES and GS game out with a faster processor that wasn’t available in 2012 when the other came out.

At some point you do need to phaseout units to move along with the Technology.

Its sad but at least you can Run the last units with LH3 ES and the GS.

The other units are still being good prices, put them up for sale and buy a eS unit to link in with the other Axioms

I would check eBay. The cpt100 was going for around 300.00 I thought.

Opps, it’s the CP100 that goes for that, sorry

    Thanks Huntertn

$600 for an A98 and transducer sounds like a good price. I would think you might be able to get a little more if you are not in a hurry. There are not many used ones on ebay and the new ones are over a grand.

While the A-series is not the newest thing I think that they are good units. I have two right now and an e-series. If someone was looking for some used equipment I think that someone could put together a nice system of used units and get many years of service out of them.

I just got an Axiom but have not had a chance swap out one of my A-series yet. I hope to get the swap done in the next week or two now that it has warmed up some. Even though you can't network a LH2 and a LH3 unit on the Raynet high speed buss you can share NMEA 2000 data on the seatalk buss - according to posts on the Rayforum. It would be nice if Raymarine would provide the ability to transfer waypoints on the NMEA 2000 buss. Last I checked, you could not transfer waypoints or routes on the LH2 units on the NMEA buss. (not sure about the Axiom. For me, if I had an Axiom at the console and an A-series at the bow and had the ability to mark something while driving around and be able to pull up the waypoint on the front unit that would be a major plus. Along those same lines, if the Axiom allows transfer of waypoints on the NMEA 2000 buss you could transfer waypoints from another brand unit to an Axiom if you had a mixed brand system on the NMEA buss.

    Just thinking out load here.
