A Series Update Capability.
Does anyone one know if the next A Series software push, will permit the operator to select the water temp source? With any unit having a transducer mounted in the bilge, you need a menu with a heirachy list of water temp sources, which in my case, would be the CP-200 transducer mounted to my plate, to have water temp at the console. You can add a speed/temp sensor, but wouldn't have to, with water temp source selection available.
Thanks

Do you have an a ending in 7 or 8? Do you have a transducer mounted on the transom??

I have an A127 at the console, with a 2D transducer in the bilge and a CPT 200 transducer for side vision, mounted to my hole shot plate.
So, I have no water temp at the console, where I need it Sir.

LH2 will allow you to choose the source for many different things, You just need a source to provide you the temp. Just need to figure the cheapest way to go about adding it.
let me get to a computer and look, but I was thinking the CP200 had temp!

The CP200 has temp so if your not seeing it in data sources it may be that the transducer is bad.
-
Each bank of the CP200 transducer has a temp sensor. From a Side Vision aspect, the transducer is fine. I haven't found a way to select the CP200 transducer as a source for water temp. I also can't find anything in writing, that tells me that the A127 software will select the source on its own.

Water temp source can't be selected. It's based on a transducer hierarchy and Natch has an anomaly. He and I have talked and I sent him another transducer to try. Unfortunately, his system isn't doing what we want it to.

It would be nice if bass boat manufacturers, would design the back end, bottom of their boats to accept a true thru hull transducer. Currently, they highly recommend an "in hull" transducer, which has been the standard for a long time. As stated many times on numerous forums, the use of a thru hull, would vastly improve fishfinder capability, especially at higher speeds.

I really hate to mention this - but - could you use a Lowrance NMEA 2000 temperature sensor? I think they are around $100. Assuming that you already have a network.

Have you tried a data reset??
If not before you do save your user data to a card or you will lose all your apps etc.
-
My current A127 replaced the original unit last month, when I sent it in for repair for touch screen problems. Neither unit, would pull water temp data from the side vision transducer. I did perform both sonar and data resets, which resulted in no charge to the water temp issue.
Appreciate the assist on this.

Sorry just scratching our heads here!!
I have ran them for about 5 years, es, a, and e units with any issues!

Since the CPT100 transducer provides water temp for the 8 series units, without the CP100 Sonar Module, I may be able to troubleshoot the CP200 transducer, by bypassing the CP200 Side Vision Module and plug it directly to the back of the A128. I don't think it will work with the A127, without using the module. This is best guess problem solving, since there are no troubleshooting procedures for the transducers.
My best to Jig34, now that I know that he and Curt are one in the same. Should have played closer attention. Curt is a great representative for Raymarine and worked hard, to get my setup straighten out.

Natch, do you know what bilge ducer you have? Possibly a P74?
Can you unplug the bulge transducer easily? If so, unplug it. That will take it out of the network. If you get temp, then we know the bilge ducer is trumping the CP200. Still won't fix your problem, but will at least answer the question why.
-
Yes Sir, there is a P74 transducer in the bilge. Tomorrow AM, I'll remove my flush mount A127 and disconnect the P74. I'm assuming that the A127 will automatically pull temp data, from whichever transducer is available, if equipped to do so.
I'll let you know what happen tomorrow.
Thank You Gents.

Couldn't stand the suspense.
Disconnected the P74 from the A127 and powered up. Selected 2D Sonar/Side Vision from the Home Screen. 2D side of screen said, no transducer found in the system. Switched to the other side of the split screen. Side Vision presented no water temp in the Water Temp box of the databar. Selected transducer setup and selected temp offset, while in the Side Vision and a pop up said. No Fishfinder water temp source available.
So that settles that. Side Vision itself, works as advertised.

I have a call in to verify, but here's what I know / think.
The units "look" for a heirarchy of transducers for temp. Since the P74 can be used on a trolling motor, it is a "depth/temp" transducer and higher than the CP200 in order of what to look for first. The P79 is a "depth" only transducer meant for in hull installs. Basically the same as the P74 minus temp.
CPT-100DVS trumps P74 and CPT200 - you don't have one so it doesn't apply, just an FYI.
QUESTION - do you have room to mount a P79 next to or near the P74?
-
No Sir I don't, but I did select the "P-79" transducer as the installed unit off the list of transducers, but it didn't make any difference, in relation to the CPT200 providing water temp. With the test I just performed, the P74 was disconnected. With the only other transducer in the system being the CPT200, shouldn't the A127 have selected it as the available transducer. Wonder if it has something to do with the CP200 Side Vision Module. Should I try bypassing the module and screw the CP200 transducer directly into the back of the A127 to see if it will provide water temp. Really don't want to fry anything though.

Siggy say dual A's
Are they net worked together? What transducer is on the bow unit?
cp200 Transducer won't plug into a 127.
-
I should have remembered that the CPT 200 won't plug into the A127, because Jig34 informed me of that, not long ago. Must be my CRS kicking in again.
Currently, they are not networked together. I have a CPT100 on my TM, for the bow mounted A128.
When networked together, the bow unit did share the water temp reading from the CPT100 transducer, with the A127 at the console. However, unless the TM is wet, it's useless info.
I decided to no longer network them, because I got tired of selecting The Data Master, whenever I cycled the bow unit on and off.
