PVS plugs - whats the trick?

Just got my PVS Plugs in to plug the Tempest 25p.

I am having a helluva time getting even the first one in? What is the trick?

I tried lubricating it a little and soaking it in hot water to loosen them up some...but still...no dice

    Any tips?

I just started one side and then used a screwdriver and hammer to get the other side in. Once you do one the rest are easier. They will snap in and are as hard to get out as putting them in.

Okay...so I need to just keep trying?

There is only 1 size right? 1 size fits all?

Yep on the size. The hole in the middle is the only difference.

    I'm still struggling.

I ordered 1 set of each (small, medium and full caps). I have been trying to put the Med ones in...have torn up 2.

I am putting the rest of them in the freezer for the night to see if they will shrink a little bit.

It's almost like something isn't right.

Here is a picture of the prop - these are vent plug holes, correct?

Is it an old tempest? I didn't think the early one's had the plug option. I could be wrong.

The holes on my trophy and tempest plus are round. But I'm far from an expert maybe someone that has that prop can help you. Try posting in the prop forum.

Looks to me that the prop has been worked and the vent holes were modified. Bought a new Tempest way back when they first came out, holes were round.

Wrong holes for standard PVS plugs.
Are the RPM's too high when trying to get on plane? If not, then you don't need plugs.

With another guy and full tank of gas, empty live wells...the prop blows out getting on plane when I get over 4000 RPMs. It will blow out if I am by myself if I give it too many RPMs too, but it is manageable.

It's actually an old A45 model - same smaller vent holes as the A40 and A41.

Yeah, I found them last night. They are smaller plugs...and not round - rectangle.

Make sure the rectangle plugs will fit; I've got an older Laser II here with holes that are true rectangles, and the holes don't look anything like your prop.
