    Bass fishing getaway...Alexandria or Brainerd

    Got some time off in mid August, but still can't decide if I want to go to Alexandria or Brainerd area. What would you guys suggest? I'm not looking to stay at a resort, since I want to be able to jump from one lake to another, so maybe just a motel that I can run an extension cord to the boat. Any suggestions?

    I would go up a little further maybe to longville or hackensack and explore some of the smaller lakes that would get less pressure/traffic.

    My favorite area would be the Detroit Lakes area, so many lakes so little time.
