sorry it has '12' inch setback running 1"1/2 below the pad, the boat has a 27 turbo no vent holes. is this to much prop for this set up?

I ran a 27 txp on my 21xd/225 optimax. It all depends on setup and load though.

What year optimax? I am guessing holeshot is suffering since you said no pvs holes. What rpm and speed are you seeing now? Like bullet3119 said it's also gonna depend on what load you are carrying.

A ventilation prop will be needed to achieve a good hole shot. I think I would send that prop out and have some pvs holes added and have it checked for trueness imo that prop should work good as long as it's a four blade or if your thinking of a new one I would suggest for heavy loads a bravo xs 26p or turbo txp and a hydro good luck and let us know what happens

I know this is going to sound crazy but I have two TXP OT 4 props that are the same pitch. One is bone stock with no venting. The other has been B&B by Croxton and had a set of a PVS added. I know this sounds crazy and I wouldn't believe it myself but both props have the exact same hole shot. Both props spool up almost the identically. I have large holes in the prop with pvs so technically it should vent much more but for some reason it doesn't. Both have very good hole shots. They don't cavitate or blow out whatsoever like a trophy.

Its because you have a 300x that exhausts above the cav plate. No need for any vents on the prop not much comes out there anyway

That explains it. I thought I was losing my mind when I ran them.
