Flo-torq II drive sleeve spunned out twice now....whats wrong?

This is the second time in 3 yrs that I have spunned the drive sleeve on my tempest fury 25p. What's going on? Motor is a 2005 200 Yamaha vmax. Do I have the wrong thrust washer on wrong?

What torque specification are you using for the prop nut?

That may be the problem....i just tighten all the way and back it up to fit pin in. What is the torque spec supposed to be? The nut was pretty loose when I went to take the prop off

I do believe when a new delrin sleeve is installed, you are to torque to 105#.

No the 100 lbs of torque is only used if the forward cone bushing is used and the Yamaha doesn't use it.

I always use it... Helps keep the zerk fitting from being ruined by the prop spokes... I still only torque to 50-55lbs per McGard prop lock specs.

I don't know why Mercury doesn't put it in the other kits that are for the heavier props since it also helps support the front of the prop on the shaft and that would stop some of the wobble too.

I run the forward cone bushing on my Yamaha. I like the extra support and also being able to put more lbs/ft on the nut to make sure everything stays tight. Loose hub is what ruins thrust washers by allowing them to wallow out

So I ordered a new flo-torq II hub kit. Now do I use the thrust washer that's included or do I stick with the Yamaha thrust washer. The Yamaha thrust washer has a rounded edge compared to the flat thrust washer included in the kit. Last time I just kept the Yamaha thrust washer.

You need to use the thrust washer that comes with the Merc flo torq kit for Yamaha motors... The Yamaha thrust washer does not mate to the flo torq style props.... Save those for when you run Yamaha propellers.

http://www.mertenmarine.com/Flo-Torq...shing-856163Q1 Here's the part number and a picture of it. If you have been using that Yamaha thrust washer on all the other flo torq hubs that could be why you keep tearing them up.
