What is the process of putting a unit into standby mode and then taking it out of standby mode? What are the benefits of using standby? Saving battery is one I'd assume, easily getting back to screen without having to reboot? Any others?

Preventing cross-talk between a console and bow unit when fishing.

How do you put the unit in standby mode and then take it out of standby? Great point on cross talk
On a Helix, hit the power button once and there's an option to turn off sonar, effectively putting it in standby.
Version 1.35 software added the Standby mode which is different than turning off sonar. Both will stop transmissions but Standby blanks the screen and turning off sonar just stops transmissions.

Never assume there's a tomorrow
on solix just hit power and standby
Thanks
I use standby when pulling TM out of water when running to another spot. I heard it is not good running transducer out of water!
i use it whenever i move from one unit to the next. much quicker than using the disable ping setting
This. Sometimes I'll leave the console unit on and change the frequency to normally 83 while my bow unit is typically on 200, that way my wife dosent have to ask 50 times how deep we are and I don't get crosstalk. But most of the time one will be in standby. Especially the console unit while fishing if I haven't made a run in several hours because when I start the engine my Onix will give a low voltage alarm, if I have it in standby I'll turn it back on after I start the engine.
