what is the difference between the helix and helix G 2 considering going to humminbird from Lowrance G2 12" touches

First models of Helix have no sub designation. Just the Helix 5 and Helix series have a G2 model (current).

In the Helix 5 series there is the Helix 5, and Helix 5 G2. The G2 is the current version and has CHIRP Sonar and CHIRP Imaging.

In the Helix 7 series there is the Helix 7, Helix 7 G2, and Helix G2N. Same as the H5 with the addition of a linkable model G2N.

In the Helix 9 series there is the Helix 9, and Helix 9 G2N. G2N is the updated current model with CHIRP Sonar and CHIRP Imaging with the MEGA SI model.

In the Helix 10 series it is the same as the Helix 9.

In the Helix 12 series it is the same as the H9 and H10 plus the first edition has CHIRP Sonar.

Every model series has a Sonar model, a Down Imaging model, and a Side Imaging model.

The least expensive setup with the best display of 360 would be either the Helix 12 CHIRP Sonar GPS or the Helix 12 CHIRP GPS G2N. Of those two the first edition Helix 12 CHIRP GPS is the lowest cost.

thanks that what i was considering getting just got to figure how to mount two 12" grafts on a war eagle aluminum boat on the bow

Have done it with a 16' Tracker many times. Only problem is dealing with the trolling motor cable when stowing and deploying.
