    Z119 G2 225Ho prop and rpm report

Guys I am back! I posted on here earlier about having problems with getting enough rpms out of my G2 with a RX4 24 prop. I have since sent the prop to Mark Croxton and he repitched it to a 23. Water was choppy, and today was REALLY hot and humid but I ran it wot 5640 rpms. and 68 mph gps. I also raised my jackplate to 3 1/4. I had 33 psi water pressure. What do you guys think? Pretty good or should I maybe try a Mercury Fury 4 if that is possible? I also have a Raker HO 25 pitch that I can turn right at 5800 and 70 mph. I like the 4 blade though in turns and handling.

Hot and choppy. I'm not sure I would spend more money to get another 1 - 2 MPH out of her. I have the Raker 25 HO and I'm right there with you at 70.7 and 5850. I was thinking about getting a 24 RX4 for stability and drivability. Those are great numbers to me. I bet in the spring you get closer to 70 with the RX4.

I think something is off with your numbers. A 23" prop won't go 68 mph at 5640 rpm's on the G 2 or any motor with 1.85 gears.

I would drop another pitch on the rx4 if you get one. I got a 24 and lost about 400 rpms. That's why I had to send it to Crofton to get it twitched.

I don't understand why or how all of my electronics or hand held GPS could be wrong? I got the mph reading from both my lowrance hds unit and Garmin hand-held gps. My tach and water pressure gauge is digital. Actually my analog tach read about 5750 rpms.

-2% slip with your digital tach 0% with your analog. I'd ask Mark what's up with that.

I don't know whats off but your 25 Raker turns 5800 and gets 70 mph which is just about right. That 24" RX4 must be pitched at 25" to start with if it lost 400 rpm's which you would lose 150+ going to a 4 blade then 200 for going up 1" in pitch. That's still gives you only 6% slip which is low but not unheard of.

It is possible when he asked for it to be repitched to a 23 it really came down to a 23.5" or something. I've been amazed at what these new Evinrude props are doing and the low levels of slip I'm seeing, myself included. Could the props be coming from the factory a little taller than noted?
