Every one I have seen is DOT-3. You can always completely flush if you are uncertain.

3 and 4 basically interchangeable-- no 5 though---if you need to add fluid you have a leak or worn out pads?? should never need to add fluid unless flushing old out and changing it??

I literally just got off the phone with MarineMaster who makes the trailers for Phoenix, had a major blowout on our last road trip on the driver rear wheel and tire, have to replace brake line and caliper, and asked what type of brake fluid they use from the factory, Jeff told me they use DOT 3 in their trailers out of the factory.
