Fastest Charger you have been in????

Seeing everyone talk about speed all the time made me remember the first Charger I fished out of my father's 17' think it was either a 84 or 86 model. He bought it used off a guy in Broken Arrow Oklahoma had a 175 Yamaha on the back so it was already over rated. He ran it for years till that Yamaha finally blew up and the guy that rebuilt it talked him into putting a phase kit on it. Already over rated then a modifications in the motor it was spooky fast. Not sure really what speeds it was running it had a break neck hole shot and you had to wear eye protection to be able to see if you ran it WOT. I miss that old boat I saw it last year driving threw my home town it has a 140 Force on the back other wise it looked to still be in great shape for it's age. How about you?

Fastest I've been in was a 496 with a 225HO running 74 to 75. I think Bobby396 and Abianca have that beet though.

I've only been in one Charger and that is mine. I have gone 77.1 in my 2008 496 with a 250 ProXS

Just curious if you know if your prop has been worked or not. If not that has to be one of the fastest 496's on record with a 250 and a stock prop?

For me it was a 797 with a 250 Mercury that went 70. Also was in a 495 that went 68 with a 225 Yamaha.

I was told from the original owner that it is a completely stock 25 Tempest. The crazy part is that this prop is not 100%. It has a few minor nicks and the finish is dulled.

Heck of a run in that 496. How is everything going in getting the splash well flex issue resolved?

Thanks. I runs faster than I originally thought it would. And the rough water ride is as good as any bassboat I have been in. There may be smoother rides out there, but not many.

Mine 71mph full tank, empty live wells just me in the boat. Flat water too. Haven't had it run that fast since I added a jackplate, but that's a whole other story.

My 296 mid 70's, factory ox66 200 vmax and a Yamaha prop. That was in its prime and during the colder months. I still consistently see 70+ during the colder months though.

The best I have had my 496 250 ProXS is 76.9 in the spring with about a half tank of gas and my tackle.

When I finally stop working 6 days a week and get my rebuild done I think I'm going to change my set up after break in. Thinking about going with a hydrofoil and a big 3 blade chopper prop.

I guess compared to a lot of Cats running 80 plus they are. Compared to a Ranger they aren't.

75.6 years today. 86 temp. 2 men, 3/4 tank, fishing gear for 2, cooler full of water and food, and both bicycle seats up. I am very happy about the speed of this 496. It has exceeded my expectations. Carries a load well. I've had a few guys try me and everyone has seen my mercury fade away in front of them. 2 were "80 +" Basscats. Not saying it's the fastest, just don't sleep on these Chargers. They air out pretty good. Oh yeah, I hear guys lie about how fast their boat is all the time. Most just round up to the nearset 10. Lol

Yes, people definitely lie about speed. That why it is good to see the video on the run on the gps. Not just talk about it with no proof.
