    Hole shot question.

I have a 2005yr 18-6 Triton with an 05 Mercury optimax 150. I have tried a 22 tempest a 23 tempest and a 24 tempest. Pretty much the same results. I have done all the scenarios with the vent plugs. Water pressure is about 15psi. 5300 rpm with the 22 and about 5000 rpm with the 24. Had compression checked on all cylinders, that was good. Had my hot foot adjustment checked, that is good. Motor height is around 3" below pad. I was told to try a trophy 4 blade 23 pitch. Has anyone had this problem, if so, can you please guide me in the right direction. Any help is greatly appreciated.

You are under prop'd with the 22 Tempest. That WOT RPM should be up in the 5640-5750 range. In what condition is the 22 Tempest? You may want to try a known good one. Did you buy these pros new?

Yes sir. Bought them new. Had my tempest 23 turned down by Mark. I have been fighting this problem awhile. All the props I tried were tempest. I was just wondering if the trophy prop would give me better holeshot and top end performance. Now, with all that being said, I have way more tackle than I need in the boat. Lol. Fill the livewells up and it's embarrassing.

Do you have a jack plate?
The 23 is the prop for that boat maybe the 24 in the winter
that should be a 60 mph boat running right around 5600 rpms
the trophy will ride better will be a little slower on the top end and won't load on the trailer as good as the tempest
you said you checked the hotfoot setting? Did you check the throttle plate on the intake or the peddle?

Check the throttle plate setting and have you done all the fuel system upgrades to your boat and motor listed here. http://www.bbcboards.net/showthread.php?t=22490

I think so, But you will need the correct Merc hub kit for your motor.
