Is there a way to know how far away a object is once you scan it suckh as going over a brush pile and knowing it's 10-20' behind the boat
I'm new to the whole fish finder thing so I'm just trying to figure out where stuff is after I find it
i have seen the garmin has forward looking and you see how far away it is hoping my lowrance has the same abilities
On the hds units. You can put the cursor on the map and on the bottom of the screen a small grey box pops up. In that box it tells you have far away the boat icon is from that cusor.
TI units works just the same as the HDS unit. they literally run the same software.

on sidescan view I put the cursor over the centerline where the structure is, then go by what side it was on.
I don't rely on putting the cursor over the actual piece of structure.
I always put a wpt on the object in question and then can see it on the mapping screen. I then use that to determine the next course of action.I don't rely on putting the cursor over the actual piece of structure.
