you leaned out an injector on that cylinder and melted the piston. Remove the cylinder head from that bank and look inside. Sounds like a reman power head is in your future.

I guess it all depends on how damaged the cylinder is... If the piston did not hit the spark plug so its still attached to its arm...the cylinder head should be ok and if the piston melted maybe it did not scratch the cylinder too bad... well I hope..trying to stay positive :|

    End of statement. Sorry.
Nightmare is correct--find or take it to a person or shop you are comfortable with and let them tear it down. This is the only real way to know what happened and what needs to be done at this point

We all hope for the best.. however just because the plug is not damaged is no guarantee that the piston is still attached..
based on what you say about a stuck piston but yet the motor would still start makes me think the piston is not attached.

    Art,
I hope you find that this is not serious, and that you get it going soon

I was faced with this same scenario not to long ago, My engine (an Opti) ingested a reed during a tournament and wiped out an entire cylinder
I was looking at 7K for a new power head on an old boat that had plenty of sun damage

Fortunately I had a good dealer and was treated more than fair. I ended up with a new to me boa and motor

My dealer had a motor to put on my boat and they sold it fairly quick
I just didn't want to put any more money in my old boat
We both came out ahead that way

I hope it works out as well for you as it did me

Sounds like a blown motor. The metal noise is a broken rod.

Had the same thing happen to my Etec last year. Running across the lake and just dropped RPM and blew. Paid around $3000 for a rebuilt powerhead from Evinrude (they gave me a deal), new injector on #2 cylinder, new reeds, sent my other injectors to be cleaned while I waited. Think I spent around around $5500 total for the entire rebuild.

Sounds like it went my did the same thing pretty much except it just shut down on its own, and when I started it was rough.

Good luck. That doesn't happen overnight. Your dealer can get a reman from Riverside marine in North Little Rock Arkansas.
