    Helix 9 unit weight?

I want to upgrade from a Helix 7 DI/GPS to a Helix 9 SI/GPS at the console and want to know what the larger unit weighs. Reason being, I want to use my existing 1.5" Ram mount as upgrading to the 2.25 " is not an option due to the base I'm using now.

    TIA,
    Bill

Similar to Helix 10...about 4.5 lbs. May be a tad heavy for that size ram mount especially in rough water.

If you use that C size mount, you may want to consider this to add to it:

I wouldn't skimp on a good mount for your electronics. Mine are rock solid on Champlain. Console mount:

    .

Sell the 1.5 and get the bigger Ram mount. Your future is this Helix 9 and what comes
after which will probably be a 10 or a 12.

That looks great but what is the brand and what is the size of the base? I didn't use the round base that came with the mount as the original units on my boat were HB SX 128 plug n play units from 2003 and they had a square base the same size as the 1.5 ball base I'm using now as the new base covers the four holes in my top cap.

The D size base is 3.68 round and would not hide all of the holes already there.

Also available with a vertical mount.

I mounted mine with a thin rubber mouse pad between the mount and fiberglass. Used fender washers and nyloc nuts under the fiberglass.

I have 2- RAM109 VU's on my bow, more stout than the gunnel.

I use two of these also. Also makes it easy to remove unit from the boat.

I've got a 2.25" ram mount for the helix units with the torque wrench and a balzout mount I'm about to get rid of if you're interested. Both are brand new never been mounted

I have that very same swing mount for my console Helix 10 and it is a great and very sturdy mount. Highly recommend.
