    New to me 184DC F/S

    1988 184DC F/S
    1988 Johnson GT200
    4" manual Power Lift
    2 people
    1/2 tank gas

    1st set up:
    23P Predator
    P2P -5"
    12# psi
    good hole shot
    61mph GPS
    5900 rpm
    Smooth water

    2nd try:
    24P Raker1
    P2P -3.5"
    15# psi
    Decent hole shot
    67mph GPS
    5500 rpm
    Smooth water

Got in rough water, spun a hub. Made it back to ramp at an idle.(not fun in rough water) loaded up and put 23P back on to continue fishing. Had 24P sent in for new hub. Company called and said hub was fine. Had them change it anyway. Got prop back and took it to river. Performed good in smooth backwater, got out in River in rough water and it cavitated bad. Couldn't keep it on plane. Turned around tried to put it up. Finally feathered it on plane and got back in smooth water backwater. Much better but not right. Thought I had it somewhat dialed in but don't know what to do now. PAT G. you got any advice? Anyone?

Predator isn't that great of a prop. Raker is good prop and if you want to run a 4 blade prop a Renegade would be a good choice. Surprised at the WP at 5" only being 12 PSI that is way too low on that motor. Make sure you don't have a transducer or anything else with in 18" of the center line of the pad/motor that can cause turbulent water going to the gear case.
