    Gear case drain plug tool.

Does anyone know where I might buy one of these sockets for gear case drain plug removal?

I just use a MILD tap with my manual impact screwdriver. Works everytime.

I just use a big ol' flat blade screwdriver. Seems of have worked just fine over the years. Now, if I were changing 5 or 6 LU's a day I might need a special tool.

Check with Snap On tools. They make a lot of specialty tools but they're proud of their stuff. I know they make a short "marine" screwdriver especially for those screws.

On my 1995 Mariner MagIII I bought an Evinrude drain plug. (Not sure if it'll work on a Yamaha) It has an Allen type fitting instead of a slot. As above, a slight tap or two will help loosen up the drain and vent plugs...BF

Hollow ground screwdriver that fully fits the slot will work every time.
