150 four stroke or evinrude g2 150 ho

On a ranger z185 would a merc 150 four stroke, or an evinrude g2 150 ho be the better choice. The dealership handles both but they are really pushing the g2. I had a 2014 merc 4 stroke 90hp on my Lund I just sold and never had a single problem with it. I don't know what direction to go with this new boat

Either would be a good choice but I'd get the G2

Mercury, you had a trouble free experience before you ought to repeat it (plus they look better on that boat).

So far I love my Merc 4stroke! Never owned an Etec so I can't say anything good or bad.

The G2 will run circles around the 4 stoke and you cannot beat a 10 yr warranty.

Not one to get into the "this one's faster" games... but I don't think I'll be seeing this scenario any time soon.

So please tell me which type of fish cares how fast a particular engine can run.

I am the type person that once I find something I am happy with, I stop looking. If I were in the OPs shoes and had his experience, I would stay with the Merc.

Run circles, funny how sometimes that comes up. G2 good motor but 150 Merc is really a beast, I get told all the time how my Verado Pro is a slow sluggish anchor weight but the G2 and SHO guys ask all the time how can it be so strong. The Mercury is so underrated that people think it's a slow motor. It's not and fourstroke power is different than G2 power. G power is 2 whined up 4 stroke is tourqe power up. Pushes out of the hole and keeps power to wot. But if G2 has "run circles" around the 150 Mercury wouldn't it drink more gas and OIL

I've got close to 100hours my 150 pushing a 23ft seacraft/15p Enertia. The boat cruises 30/31mph @4500rpm. With 4 People with a full 110 gallon tank the motor just gets up and goes . . . engine temp holds steady 131 degrees at cruise. You would never know it's only 150. This past weekend I had it out in really bad conditions (20knots N wind against tide 3+ tight chop) The motor just plows through it 16 mph without breaking a sweat (holds 131 degrees).
