    Dobyns Champion vs Sierra

Looking at 2 spinning rods- ML Champion and Sierra. Will be using for light plastics. What is the $70 difference due to and is it worth it?

The Sierra rods are nicely balanced and fish well. They are a good choice for wacky and drop shot. I feel the Champion is worth the extra when throwing a shakey or light ned rig. Both series will do the job great. Let the percentage of what you are fishing most of the time dictate what model you need. If you decide to sell the rod later the XP will be a easy sell.

The difference is almost entirely blank quality and sensitivity. I haven't used any sierra spinning rods, but if the casting rods are any example, I would prefer the champion on bottom contact baits simply for the additional sensitivity. Typically the actions are very similar across the two lines. For light plastic applications, the Champion would be my choice and I would pay the extra money. Whether that is worth it to you is hard for me to say.
