ok, whats going on here?
whats with the digital-looking lines in the water column, and the twisting image? this at a dam so theres turbulence but like i said my LSS-1 didnt do this
this is 455, range 160. surface clutter on high

The crooked line is your boat rocking. Looks like quite a bit of turbulence in the water based on the downscan image. Your LSS-1 must have been set up differently. Is this the way it acts in non turbulent sections of the lake?
someone mentioned in another thread to turn high chirp off when scanning with 455?
Don't use 2D-chirp and StructureScan at the same time, guessing you will get much better StructureScan if you run your 2D in 200 kHz.
it gave me a pop up every time i put ss on when in chirp so i assumed it automatically disabled the chirp and i was good to go
does anyone know if the latest update corrected anything im experiencing?
Do you have your engine trimmed up out of the way of the signal?

No, it's an outboard with manual trim.
but I didn't have this issue with my Mega 9 or LSS-1
after the update and more adjustments.....im getting lousy 455 range, and those digital-looking bars are still there in shallow water.
Do I have a bad unit?
Post shots of tranaducer from the rear and side of boat
those images look like the sonar return is getting blocked by the boat somehow
Ive had it on a portable mount and tried deeper, shallower, angled left and right and angled fore aft
Post pics or send it back to lowrance , can't help with words
? i have posted pics and have tried all adjustments of transducer with a portable mount, what more pics do you want?
I just want to know if this looks normal for a totalscan, because my old lss-1 looked better than these
Post pics of the transducer setup on the boat ..
I understand what and why they are asking you to send pics, I personally don't think it's necessary to send more pics if you have it on a temporary mount and can make unlimited adjustments with the same results. Any reason for not putting it on the transom? Could be moving around on the temporary mount... also when in calm water does it work fine? I run a total scan and have not seen this so it's not normal. But I do know that running chirp while looking at structure scan will give horrible results. Which is stupid imo. Ecsuse I like to look at 2d sonar and structure at the same time
I had it out again tonight and this time i turned the mount so the transducer was tilted 45 degrees. the right scan looked great, while the left looked poor, of course. but why would it have great images when tilted a full 45 degrees? I think the ducer is bad. im going to post more pics here soon.

ok here is the temp mount i have the transducer on. you can see the post is tilted roughly 45 degrees
and the image it produced

Try setting your surface clarity off the line in middle might be larger but I should improve your side scan image..
