I have a 2012 175 ProXS Optimax serial number 1B917726 with a jet pump. This is a XL 25" ProXS. I want to buy a prop lower unit for my motor too so I went to the mercury parts web page and plugged my serial number in and see that a 9148T85 lower unit will fit my outboard. I found someone selling a used lower unit from a 2007 150 and it has the same part number as what mercury shows will fit my motor. I got the motor serial number from the seller (1B5211XX) and verified Mercury shows the same part number (9148T85) for the 150 XL lower unit. Is there any chance Mercury would have duplicate part numbers and this lower unit might not work with my motor? The seller is far enough away I would have to have it shipped but the price is very reasonable.
