Exclamation No need to call CANPASS anymore

I called CANPASS this morning like I have a half a dozen times already this year when I'm headed to Canadian water and the nice lady asked if I was fishing and if I planned to touch ground in Canada and was then informed that the law was passed as long as you do not touch Canadian ground you no longer have to call CANPASS

    That is good news
I just hope everyone is on the same page with the new law.

They passed a boating regulation change just before bass opener that states you do not have to call/report in unless anchoring or touching land. I've still called in for safe measure but sounds they are starting to advise anglers of no need to dial in now.

You are still required to have all the documents just in case

You can use an enhanced driver’s license in lieu of a passport

State-issued enhanced drivers licenses (EDLs) provide proof of identity and U.S. citizenship, are issued in a secure process, and include technology that makes travel easier. They provide travelers with a low-cost, convenient alternative to a passport

They cost less than a passport and are used for USA, CANADA, CARIBBEAN and MEXICO

If you plan to travel to other destinations you still need a passport

Not all states issue EDL's but most that are adjacent to one of these other countries do

Sounds good. Thanks for the info. I think I'll just go that route. I'm due for a new drivers license a month from today.
I appreciate all of the help
