    Trying out an older Traeger.....

My dad brought over his 20" older Traeger that he never uses to me to see if a pellet smoker is something I want to invest in. It only has the Smoke, Med, Hi settings. I've been playing with it and it appears the smoke setting gets anywhere from 225-250 degrees and the Med. setting gets to about 325-350 degrees. This is based off my Thermo-Pro dual probe thermometer. I clipped the temp probe right to the grill. The dome temp gauge is about 50 degrees off. Haven't seen the max Hi temp yet. Anything I should know before I put my pork butt on this weekend? Just put it on smoke and let it go? Thanks

I'd throw the butt on and let it ride. 225-250 is great. You're going by internal temp so just see what happens. A pork butt is pretty forgiving.

I'd put that sucker on medium, I'm a hot fast guy more than low and slow for pork butts.
