    Leech Lake Advice

Headed up there in a couple weeks, have fished lake a few times and had decent success in years past. Was curious how the fishing has been so far this year, and anyone has any info on some places or stuff to look for, I can always use the advice.

    Thanks Chad

Rice, undercut banks, and occasionally cane and reeds. Leave the fairy wands at home, and bring the big sticks with 50 and 65 lb braid. Frogs, SPOONS, jigs, and texas rigs to followup the blows in the rice. All the bays have fish, Boy being the most notorious. Federal Dam has some great pitching territory too.

I have a place on Leech, am there now. Fishing should be really good than. Frogs and pitching will be the deal. 1/2 oz and 3/4 oz weights and straight shank flipping hooks. Look up rusty crayfish, that is the main forage this time of year and try to match that with your baits. Steam boat, Boy and Sucker are the go to places. Should mostly be in the rice but some deepest reed edges are worth checking too It's kinda of overwhelming because it looks they should be every where but they aren't. If you find your self in an area with lots of silt on the bottom and dirty water go elsewhere. They tend to be bunched up.
