Yes, I've been thinking the Tackle Trap could be a one-stop shop. Have them do their majic on the reel as well

I bought my first Hammer rod from them and now have 4 of em. There are tons of good rods on the market but for the money I can't see a reason to change.
I agree on concentrating on the rod, But I would make sure the reel has a very smooth drag.

By Mister Cortman....That's because you're derailing the OP's thread and no matter how you put it it sounds holier-than-thou. If you want to start a new thread on why people spend money on tackle instead of sending it to you for hungry people that's what you should do.
What do you call what you just did....derailing.... a thread as you called it. I hope that you don't find yourself one day needing someone you call holier than thou. I read in a book once that a lot of people were calling this guy holier than thou and in the end he gave his life for the same people that talked to him like a dog. As for as i know there is no rules on this site that says you can respond to someone's thread in anyway you chose. By the way i wasn't just referring to people that are hungry it could be a small kid in the hospital fighting for his life. But to tell the truth i don't care how anybody spends their money that they work hard for, it's their choice. By the way my 12 year old kid read your post you sent to me and he wanted me to tell you that he would keep you in his prayers. I told him i would tell you so consider it done...my kid goes to church too...so go ahead and tell him he is holier than thou...because i happen to be proud of him. This will be my last words on the subject....so if you have something else on your mind knock yourself out. And to the original poster i hope you find the right rod and reel that you are looking for....good luck.
this thread took a weird turn
I like the St. Croix Legend Tourney Drop Shot Rod (6'10" ML XF Tip) with a Shimano Sustain 2500 Spinning Reel. I have 2 of these set ups on deck, one for drop shot and one for ned rig and I love them.
Call the sponsors (I have bought many of my rods/reels from Gary at Tackle Trap over the years-user name Bronzefly) here on the boards for pricing and also look on ebay for the reels for the best prices, you should be able to get this set up for around or a little under $500 bucks.

I really like my Falcon Cara "Squirrel Tail" CS-4-17M, it's a 7' M action paired with a Stradic Ci4. That would be roughly a $200 rod and $200 reel. Tackle Trap does not sell Falcon but Tackle Experts does and they also offer the 10% BBC discount.
Thanks for the kind words guys, it's appreciated!
You'll easily be able to put together a top notch combo within your budget. Feel free to shoot me a PM or email anytime and I'll be glad to help put together a combo for you. The Tackle Trap doesn't stock everything, but what we stock we know and someone on staff can speak intelligently about the tackle we offer.
.
I would go with a NRX , you will not be disappointed. Get ahold the guys at The Tackle Trap, they have the hook up on NRX rods and know where their talking about !
