    Prop chatter

I have a SHO 250 and when I begin at idle speed and slowly accelerate there is a noise which a mechanic told me might be prop chatter. What is prop chatter and does it matter and can it be prevented?

I know with mercury they offer hub kits that have a little more flex in them for a dampening effect. I would guess that Yamaha has something similar.

Prop being out of balance will do it too.

Not sure if the SHO is similar to Merc but certain props will have an exhaust rumble. Next time out trim the motor up a bit while idling. It helped with my 250xb and it only did it with certain props.

Thanks. I will try trimming up a bit.
