60" for me -- Depends on the kind of lakes you fish and how rough they get, combined with how bad you want fish in open areas. when the wind blows
First one I had on this boat was a 45" It would come out of the water pretty often when fishing windy points, ledges, humps deep grass etc.
Second was a 52" it was better but would still surface in big waves.. With the 60" my feet get soaked before it will break the surface --
By then---- I say LETS GO !!!!!!

Good luck----------Most are on national back order !! One thing to note-- you can cut the shaft down -- you cant make it longer.

Check out a post on BBC in the electrical, wiring, trolling motor forum about a member who bought the 60" Ultrex and when the shaft is nearly fully down and the motor is pulled up to the stow position the lower unit will not rest on the stow rails. That guy is pissed and MK says that's how it is.

Sounds to me like a hard head just bitching -- All he has to do is slide the shaft up a few inches and problem solved.. It's not a big deal for a full grown man to raise the shaft and adjust the collar while it's on the trailer.. Then (IF) you need the extra length all you have to do is back off the retaining collar while deployed and gravity will pull it to full down. Not that hard.
I do it all the time. If he's that pissed I'll buy it from him.

I have a 45" Fortrex on my bassport 2+2 and in heavy wind like there was this weekend at Clearlake my prop was out of the water on every roller. I'm going to go with a 52" when I upgrade

I saw where the 60" Ultrex will not rack correctly at full extension.
When I upgrade---figure to order the 60" then cut it down so it does.
