The only way to "push it over" is to buy a Zero Lines card.

You cannot record Auto Chart Live to a regular memory card, you can with a Zero Line Card.

but I can save waypoints to the SD card. I just won't have the contour data?

No you cannot save waypoints to a memory card. Waypoints are created and stored in the unit's memory. When you SAVE a waypoint, it only goes to the unit's memory (waypoint library). You can then EXPORT them to a memory card for management/storage elsewhere.

Waypoints that are exported to a memory card are not read by the unit. They have to be in the unit's memory for use (imported).

You can use the RECORD feature of the unit to write sonar logs to a regular memory card. That is done with the Snapshot and Recording View menu. That data can be processed by the computer software Auto Chart or Auto Chart Pro to create contour mapping that is then copied to a Zero Line Card for use in the unit.
