Filling up Evinrude G2 seastar pro steering fluid

Does anybody have a tutorial on how to do this? I do not have the assisted power steering snd instead have the regular seastar pro steering. I have a leak somewhere but want to find out how to fill it up properly. I have done it before on the regular outboard system but no clue how to on the g2

Mine either filled on top of the helm spacer or on a remote somewhere on the dashboard higher than the helm. Look for a small knob without a label about the diameter of a nickel flush with the fiberglass.

I know where to fill it but to avoid having air bubbles you have to bleed it from the back near the motor while filling it up. Since the g2 does not use the same steering cylinder in the back as other outboards I have no clue where im
supposed to bleed it while filling it up

The bleeders are on the passenger side of the engine. You will need a steering lock tool from brp. Power bleeding this system is almost a must. Probably best to take it to a dealer.

Take it in to the dealer. You don't want to screw this up.

I agree with taking it to your dealer, but if you insist on doing it yourself, at least do it correctly and make sure the motor is FULLY trimmed in.

It won't take them long to do it. Need to find the leak. If you had the tool you could do it yourself as Seahorse says but the key is to have the motor fully tucked in.

They are good to me it's just a holiday weekend and they are always extremely busy, there are only two bass boat marinas here in our state. I'll let them do it lol it'll take longer for me to get the tool and figure it out plus I don't have the best luck when it comes to DIY

HEY!! Didn't you say you had regular Seastar Hydraulic steering? What's the part number on the actuator on the motor?

There isn't a conventional actuator on the motor, it is built into the swivel bracket on the G2. On the G1 you can use the HC5345.

Well, that takes it out of the realm of backyard maintenance AT THIS TIME. I'm sure someone will come up with an alternate method. It looks like $$$Money if the cylinder(s) on the motor go bad.

with an 8 or 10 year warranty I wouldn't sweat it. On the 150-200 G2 you can opt for the typical hydraulic steering.
