    Got a rude awakening today.

I went to buy a suit today. My oldest daughter is getting married next month and wants me to wear a black suit. Since I retired from teaching 11 years ago, I gave all of my suits, sportcoats and ties to Goodwill. My philosophy has been that if I need to dress up to go somewhere, I just wouldn't go! Up until now...its worked. So I told her, no problem, I'll just buy a suit as I might need one someday. Mind you, its probably been 15 years since I bought a suit. I had to get a dress shirt, tie, socks and shoes in addition to the suit. If I added about $300 to what I spent, I could have bought the new Helix 10 that I want. The things we do for our kids. The suit was pricey enough...but $89 for a shirt???? The last white dress shirt I bought was about $35. That tells you how long ago it was.

The wedding is July 29...so I am quite certain that suit will have to be cleaned for sure before I wear it again. I just hope the A/C works in that church. (For my sake and anyone around me)

I don't own one. I have nice pants and shirt, but no coat or vest. Congratulations on the daughter getting married.

Wouldn't your mere presence be gift enough?

Good suit equals about 1000 bucks.

I hate wearing a suit or even a tie......the thought of doing so daily killed the "do I just go to law school now" thought when we sold out in Texas wearing a suit=stuck indoors

Congrats on your daughter getting married. Hope you mentioned your a BBC member and you would be paying cash. Also that your BBC membership often means a 10 percent discount and that your accustomed to a July 4th sale. Also that typically when BBC members make purchases they order all the accessories so they can get a better price, just like you did with an entire-wardrobe......Again congrats and I wish you all the best.

Wearing that suit allowed me to start wearing whatever I wanted to at 27, so I figured it was worth it.
