    iCast releases

There should be a lot of cool kayaking gear at the iCast show this year. I will be attending on Thursday and Friday of the show and will be getting a closer look at some of the new models coming out.

Anything you guys are interested in seeing that you would like me to get pictures of?

Two things I am really excited about are two new products that will be unveiled by NuCanoe as well as the new fishing kayak from Bonafide kayaks!

I thought for sure that Luther's new boat would be a pedal kayak rather than a paddle craft! I know he has a Pro Angler 14 in his personal lineup and understands the advantage of pedals over paddles when it comes to tournament fishing. I wouldn't be surprised if there is a pedal version in the future!

I am surprised as well, but knowing the time frame they had to work with to just develop the kayak I couldn't see a pedal drive system happening now. I am curious though if there is a hole through the kayak to place a pedal system? We will see at iCast.

I wonder why more manufacturers haven't built hulls that will accept the Hobie Mirage Drive? Santa Cruz Kayaks are the only ones I know that have done it with their Raptor but I believe they just went out of business as I know they had the company up for sale recently. Hadn't heard that anyone bought them out yet but I guess we'll see.

I just saw a clip from Flukemaster on FB and it looked like there was a lot of kayaks out in the room he was walking through.

So there was a lot going on at iCast last week...sorry I wasn't able to update you guys when I was out there. I was there all day on Thursday and until about 1 PM on Friday.

Lots of new stuff coming out from several kayak companies. Got a chance to look over the new Bonafide kayaks SS127 and I was pretty impressed with some of the features. You could definitely tell that it wasn't their final production model as it just came out of their first prototype mold...but it should be a nice kayak. I was also excited about the NuCanoe Flint that we debuted at iCast. It's going to be a great river/entry level sit on top kayak for under $1000. We also had the new NuCanoe ProDrive there which will be a nice product to add pedal drive to the Pursuit and Frontier platforms. I saw the new feelfree boats including their tandem Lure and the new Dorado...their motor/pedal drive should be interesting to see in action when it becomes available to the public in the next few months.

YakAttack and RAM mounts had alot of great new products available now. YakAttack showed off their new rod holder and transducer mount...still some tweaks to be made but it should be a good design. RAM had a ton of new track mounting options including H rails that looked similar to what is on Hobie with built in gear tracks. That's going to be a great product to put on any kayak.

Lots of new SPF rated clothing and a new paddlesports focused PFD from Mustang Survival that will be coming out.

Just a lot of stuff to take in with the short amount of time I had out there. It was crazy bumping into all of the professionals and TV icons that I grew up watching when I was a kid. It was an awesome experience and I look forward to coming again next year.

It's actually both...so technically a hybrid. It has a lesser amount of foam in the front so it's not bulky at all and then a manual pull cord that will inflate the front and rear of the life jacket.

Nice! I've been wondering why no one has done something like that yet.
