    another gps heading sensor Question

I have had the heading sensor on my 1199 at console (sensor on transom) for about one year and it has worked just the way it should until yesterday. I am seeing the old familiar donut when setting still. Just started and it seems ok when moving above 1 mph. Has it gone bad or is there something else going on?. No donut until yesterday. Thanks.

Does it show "External" on the GPS Diagnostics View?

It would seem there's a problem with it and other than verifying you have clean contacts and power to it then probably not much can be done. Might try contacting HB Customer support to see if there is any other troubleshooting that can be done before replacing it. I haven't seen any reported failures with just the compass portion other than just interference issues. If the GPS wasn't working, you wouldn't have the connection showing and no charts visible.

Isn't that what is supposed to do. I have the heading sensor puck and as soon as I stop completely I turn into a donut(ha I gotta hit the gym)

once i move a little it goes right back to a semi accuracte heading

You always have the heading arrow with the HS GPS......never the donut.

Like Bob said should never see the donut if the hs is being used. Should have a green line pointing the direction the boat is moving and the boat icon will always be visible and pointing the direction the bow is facing. If theyou boat stops the green direction line may vanish but reappear when the boat moves again.
