    2002 Procraft 200 super pro

I had my original 2002 Merc 200 opti changed on my boat last year as it felt tired with almost 800 hrs on it, it just didn't run like it did when i first got the boat 6 years ago, so I had a 2016 200 opti put on. When I first got the boat i didn't have a jackplate, just a set back but had a used cmc power lift plate installed with the new motor thinking that i could manually adjust it to get max speed out of the boat but after i finished the break in, the boat felt like it was nose diving and the RPM's would hardly pass 5000 and I barely hit 58 mph, when I first got the boat I used to get it to 66 mph and sometimes 68 so after taking it back to the marina they realised the motor was set to low and they lifted it to the max slot after water testing it was a little better but still only hitting 62 mph at 5250 RPM so i set the jackplate up to as far as it could go and am now maxed out on both the motor and jack plate and am now running at 65 mph at 5350 RPM. Why this boat with the new motor is not getting the speeds i used to is beyond me.

From what I can tell, those hulls need a lot of set back to run well. I see quite a few with 12" plates on them.If you have the means, I would try that. As for the difference in the two engines, not sure. Maybe different lower units, gears or prop.

What prop do you have on it now and how much set back? Measure your prop to pad and see if the motor is still too low.

Put the Tempest back on. Fury is stiffer, accounting for your loss of RPM. Also won't lift the bow like the Tempest will.

If you really are at 1.5 below you are too high. How is your water pressure. You really need to watch water pressure if it is that high. The faster you get it running the higher the boat will pick up out of water thus lowering water pressure. I am running either a 26 pitch a45 trophy or a 26 pitch tempest plus. Both props are ran at 2.25 below on 10" plate. With a full tourney load and 2 people both props will run between 67-69. Trophy has better hole shot. With same load minus partner and his tackle the tempest will run 70-72. My motor is a 3.0 liter though.

SP200 the best prop would be a 25" tempest starting at 3 1/2" below pad then raising the motor 1/4" at a time until you gain rpm's but not speed, lose bow lift or water pressure then drop it 1/4" and lock it in.

May also want to check to make sure throttle cable is adjusted correctly. Make sure you are getting full throttle. The Mercury 3.0 liter forum is where you can find info on checking this if you haven't already done so.

The problem is I'm maxed out can't go any higher, I'll try the tempest with this new motor and see how that go's I guess
