    Angry 2002 200 Super Pro w/new 2016 merc

I had my original 2002 Merc 200 opti changed on my boat last year as it felt tired with almost 800 hrs on it, it just didn't run like it did when i first got the boat 6 years ago, so I had a 2016 200 opti put on. When I first got the boat i didn't have a jackplate, just a set back but had a used cmc power lift plate installed with the new motor thinking that i could manually adjust it to get max speed out of the boat but after i finished the break in, the boat felt like it was nose diving and the RPM's would hardly pass 5000 and I barely hit 58 mph, when I first got the boat I used to get it to 66 mph and sometimes 68 so after taking it back to the marina they realised the motor was set to low and they lifted it to the max slot after water testing it was a little better but still only hitting 62 mph at 5250 RPM so i set the jackplate up to as far as it could go and am now maxed out on both the motor and jack plate and am now running at 65 mph at 5350 RPM. Why this boat with the new motor is not getting the speeds i used to is beyond me.

What's your prop? That could make a ton of difference.

May be the problem. Try a different prop. Sounds like you may be overpropped if you can only spin it 5300

Or have Mark Croxton work it. You should be turning 500 more rpm. What's the prop to pad height?

last I remember was 1.5 inchs below pad, last year with my old motor the most I got was 5200RPM I tried a 24 fury and it was more responsive on the holeshot but not much difference in RPM and MPH

On my 2000 225 opti the revs needed to hit around 5800 peak. I'd tinker up and down, but I hear the fury is not the berries on a lot of boats. I'd contact Mark the prop guy here on bbc and talk to him about it and see what he suggests. He will probably be able to work your prop and help you set it up where it will run. Your dealer doesn't know what they are doing it appears. No way that new opti won't run out as much or more than the old one.

    I also have a 25" fury on a 2003 200 superpro with a 2003 200 optimax. Depending on load can run between 70 and 68 mph.
Check your motor height and what is your water pressure at top end. Procrafts boats built in this time frame seem to have engines low. My boat came used with a setback plate and the engine was low. I purchased a 10" manual slidemaster, can adjusted as needed.

Raise motor.... Don't go below 15 psi.....

You could reprop it to a lower pitch but motor is probably still too low.

That's weird. My motor is as low as it can possibly be on my manual jackplate. Gets out the hole real quick. I can still get it to 67-68mph just over 5500 rpm. I'm running a 25 tempest. 2 people full load more like 64 or 65mph

Ya but I'm maxed out can't go any higher, looks like i might have to put a big dent in the wallet and go for a hydrolic jack plate I don't know what else to do.

Are you sure the new engine is the same length as the old engine?
