    Triton TR-18

I have a 1998 Triton TR-18 with Mercury 150. It came with a Trophy 25P. 6" manual jack plate. 58mph @ 5400 rpm. Problem: Boat is VERY slow to plane with 1 livrwell full. It also will not load on trailer without bogging down and cutting off. I just assumed for years that it must be too much prop. After talking with several people I bought steepest 23P. Same results with plane and bogging. Top end speed decreased to 54mph @ 5200 rpm. I was told that this motor needed to be running at 6000 rpm to reach its full potential. Any help with this would greatly be appreciated.

Might want to verify that 6000 rpm. Check the setups forum for the proper prop to pad measurement. Might try changing the vent plugs if you have a Tempest Plus.

Sounds like you have motor issues. You should be able to spin that 23 to 5800 easily, and that boat should run 60-62 if set up right.
