Saw the other post about straight shank hooks so instead of hijacking it decided to ask my own question…
I’ve tried using straight shank hooks and the biggest pain in the ass I find with them is that the hook either pops through the top of the plastic the it pops back out of it’s entry point far too easily thus making it no longer weedless and I get hung up a lot.
I get the idea of high percentage hookups but I’m finding it 2 steps forward 1 step back anytime I try to fish in the jungle. Sure my hooking percentage may go up, but not if I’m wasting half a day fixing the rig and pulling grass off the hook.
Does anyone have any suggestions on which angle the hook point should enter the bait to avoid this? diagrams or photos would be helpful. Thanks in advance!
