Adding an AS GPS HS to Helix units

I have two Helix 10 Mega units on my boat and they are networked together and I'm adding the AS GPS HS puck and my question is do I need to hook it to both units or just one of them since they are linked?

GPS pucks connect directly to the unit. The Helix's will share the GPS over the network but they won't share the heading sensor. If you want both Helix's to have a heading sensor then you need a puck for each Helix.

It will not work if you use the splitter and hook cables to both units?

The heading sensor will network between both units

My 999 picks up the AS GPS HS that's connected to my Helix G2N. It shares but you get both gps AND the magnetic direction arrow, meaning the AS GPS HS becomes your gps location for both units. I assume that two Helix units would work the same way.

The heading sensor will network between both units. But you will get the same GPS info from which ever unit it connected to it will not just share the heading sensor info

No such thing as a Humminbird GPS antenna splitter anymore (used to be with INTERLINK that is discontinued).
A Humminbird external GPS antenna connects directly to a Humminbird display and can be shared via Ethernet.

Other brands have a network GPS antenna that is connected to the network harness and is shared.

So when I install it does it become the gps location for both units or just the one it's hooked to?

On the remote unit you need to choose this gps in the network source setup tab.

It is not shared unless you chose to share it in the other unit's Ethernet menu.
