1994 evinrude, 175 power trim and tilt, rebuilt tilt cylinder goes up but will not come down, it acts like a valve problem, help, boat has been a hand full, money pit

David try this. Make up two jumper wires long enough to reach from the cranking battery to the motor. Unhook the trim motor connector at the motor and insert the jumper from the + post to the blue lead on the trim motor harness, then connect the - jumper to the green wire on the trim motor harness the motor should trim down. Then reverse for it to go up. If the motor is fully trimmed up you may be making the trim limit switch that is on the tilt tube just under the steering arm. Doing the jumper deal eliminates the relays and trim switches.

I have the unit on the bench, it was leaking at the lift cylinder on the outside not by the seal, I bought a rebuild kit and changed the o rings and the seal on the top and the piston. Can you explain the bbs in the piston I may have them in correctly. thanks David

I'll have to dig out the manual tomorrow the rebuild process isn't in the normal service manual. You can still apply 12V to the motor on the bench if you have a battery handy.

Thanks ChampioNman this is a great manual, I was missing 2 ball bearings in the piston section, 1/8 inch works fine so far

Just for some parts. The manual is factory like I use, it is just downloadable and you can either print it out or call up individual chapters/pages. But it is for all of the 60* motors for that year.

I thought you said you had the OEM, OMC service manual for your motor. What can we believe?
