    360 VS SI

Ordering new boat soon. My front and back units are now all linked and have side and down image at both, but no 360. I find my self often using the side and down image on the back unit but up front almost alway using traditional sonar. I spend a lot of time off shore using the SI on the back unit.

MY QUESTION IS I do you guys ever use the 360 that have it or do you find your self always using the SI on the back unit to find structure and regular sonar up front to drop on what you find?? Guess i'm not sure if 360 is a gimmick with little to no use????

I do not use SI from the transom on a bow unit, I use SI and 360 that are attached to my trolling motor.

Obviously you have not looked at the 360 sticky topic.

Once I got 360 I all but quit using SI unless I am checking out new water.

360 is great for when you are actually casting to structure as you get to see the structure and fish in real time.

I don't either. I was trying to say I have SI front and rear, but I only use SI on the rear unit. What I was trying to convey is I felt the SI on the front is some what a waste because to get the BEST images in SI the boat in gear at IDOL is what I use SI for 95% of the time.

So You Would put 360 on the front not the back, is that correct?

I get the best images with the bow unit and bow transducer.

So If I buy a Minnkota ultrex, would a good set up be to buy it with universal sonar 2 and mount 360 on trolling???? Guess I'm asking if the us2 and 360 are fine or do I need to also mount the side image transducer?? I guess no chance of interference with us2??

The 360 needs a 2d transducer for depth. US2 will work fine for that. 360 and the US2 work on different frequencies so you will be ok with interference.

The 360 pod will also do down and side imaging but it will not be as good as with a dedicated transducer.

Not anymore, just can use 360 for SI.

^^^ This! 100% this! And yes, 360 on your Ultrex would be a great setup. Make sure you get the 360 SPECIFICALLY for the Ultrex.

That is correct for a Helix, software version 1.350 12/3/16 changed it. It was done because of the Helix MEGA units having a dedicated DI crystal.
The Ethernet menu has separate DI and SI source settings. Used to be combined as Advanced

It might depend on what software release you have.

Agree with above. I used si at the console to idle around and find fish / structure but the bow 360 is awesome for staying on the target and casting to targets / fish. The 360 with an ultrex would be the best thing ever.

So can the us2 provide the DI and sonar if I have latest and greatest software or do I need to run 3 transducers???

    us2 for sonar
    stock transducer for DI
360 transducer for SI and 360
