DFI oil leaking from powerhead
Hi all,
Optimax 135 hp - 150 hours total.

I'm hoping you can help me location the problem with DFI oil leaking from the power head.
After coming home from a trip DFI oil is coming out through the propeller, not immediately after the motor is trimmed down, but after several hours.
It is definitely DFI oil as the color is clear light brown.
There are no visual leaks from the engine oil reservoir, hoses og pump, so I think it is leaking through out the bottom end cap assembly that holds the seals for the drive shaft.
I took of the LU and there is a little amount of oil around the water pump, which confirms possible bad seals that allows the oil to leak down at the drive shaft.
Do you agree or are there any other possibilities?
Thanks
Martin

Martin:
Definitely sounds like the lower crankshaft seals need to be replaced.

Thanks for confirming Don, I appreciate your fast help.
I will immediately replace:
#22 O-RING, (3.237 x .103) part no. 62700
#23 SEAL part no. 41953
I have the service manual, but is it possible to remove the lower end cap with the seals, without removing the crankcase cover?
Thanks

Trying to lift off the power head.
But its stuck on the port side, it looks like corrosion is locking 2 pins.
It's not possible to spray wd40 as there is not even the smallest crack between the PH and adaptor plate.
Any ideas is very appreciated
Thanks

Wood or Plastic Wedges, PB Blaster, Aero Kroil, etc.

Well - replacing the lower seals did the job. Have done some test runs and no leaks have occurred
Thanks
