I'm curious as to what trolling motor you had before the Ultrex and what type of performance difference did you see after the Ultrex was installed, if any. I've heard that the ultrex weighs quite a bit more than the motor guides and even several pounds more than the foretrex. This is about the only decision I have left to make on my new boat order and I appreciate all of you guys input on any hands on differences that you have noticed.

As a tournament fisherman I'm not to overly concerned about a couple of pounds of additional weight to the trolling motor. The spot lock feature wipes out any weight disadvantage it could possibly cause. It is deep water anchors at half the price of Power Poles or Talons! If the Ultrex foot pedal would fit my foot well I would own it, period.

Had the Maxxum 24 volt hand control 50" shaft on the bow of my XB21 BasSport Elite. I switched to a 42" Ultrex. The difference in weight is just shy of 16 lbs. I recognized the difference in weight. Takes a little more trim to hold the bow up. But, as said, I would not trade back...fantastic TM.
